On Sunday 6th July 2008, 17 fit and toned FSID runners took part in the British 10K 2008. The British 10K is a flat run through the heart of the country’s capital, past many a historic landmark such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the Ritz Hotel and Trafalgar Square. With a massive 250,000 runners taking part the atmosphere was incredible and the cheering crowds were out in their masses to spur the runners on to the end near St. James’s Park, where we were able to celebrate afterwards with a champions’ picnic.
Here FSID runner Jenny White tells of her experience:

“Thanks to FSID for a memorable day on Sunday 6th July, when I was privileged to be one of over 24,000 people running in London, most for various charities.
For many years I have been involved in counselling families following the tragic death of their baby. I have always been a great supporter of the Foundation and on two previous occasions have raised money by taking part in the Jordan and China challenge.
In many ways the 10K Run was a greater task as I am not a runner and only started training three weeks before the event. Also I am several years older, now an OAP! I felt nervous at the start as other competitors looked so young! But once through the starting arch I was soon caught up in the great atmosphere and seeing the support of family and friends along the route gave me great encouragement.
It was a great experience, as well as raising much needed funds for FSID. I hope to participate again next year, as long as health and strength permits. It's a wonderful way to raise money and also have a unique experience.”
