Blackwater Country Show

For the second year running Chris and Lisa Harvey ran a fishing tackle raffle at the Blackwater Country Show and raised £700.

"Unlike last year the sun was out and that brought the crowds and their pound coins! We'd had some fantastic donations of both sea and freshwater fishing tackle from a few friends in the trade and with that we were able to have a couple of huge benches covered with goodies.

After a long slog we managed to bag just under £700. Every penny of it going to a great cause - FSID.

Special thanks goes to Pops and Di Cater from Dengie Guns and Tackle for letting us quite literally take over their stall! John, Dave and Peter for their press ganging people into buying tickets, Big D and Jim for the prizes, Lis and Lucia for keeping me going."

Lloyds of London Award

After a year of devoted fundraising, dedicated FSID supporters Chris and Lisa Harvey have been awarded £1000 from the Lloyds of London Charity Scheme.

Here they talk about their fundraising efforts and motivation for supporting FSID in their own words:

“Following the tragic and so unexpected loss of our beautiful son Joshua on the 14th November 2006 we've been amazed at the kindness and support from our families, friends and even work! Over a year has passed and many people are still on the case and trying to raise funds for Josh's charity, FSID. In early December we received a cheque for £1000 from the Lloyds of London charity scheme as both of us work for associated trading companies. It was an incredibly special moment to receive the cheque from Lloyds, and to hold our 4 month old daughter whilst she smiled and wooed the cameraman.

A massive thank you goes out to everyone who has been there for us and still is and we would like to say a special thanks to Dengie Guns and Tackle (Pops & Di Cater), Members of the TCC, Paulette, Peg & Family (for the FSID raffle ticket bonanza sale!), Shirley Hall for her big tips which go into the collection pot, FSID (CONI Scheme) and a big thanks to Jennifer Hollis (our councillor) for supporting us through the darker times- we may not have got through it without you.

So thank you everyone for giving us hope and keeping us alive so we can enjoy our beautiful daughter Lucia growing.”
